Warinthorn Songkasiri
DirectorDr. Warinthorn Songkasiri is currently a research group director and principal researcher at the Excellence Centre of Waste Utilization and Management (ECoWaste), a collaborative centre between KMUTT and BIOTEC. She specializes in environmental and renewable energy areas, with a focus on wastewater treatment schemes and starch technology. Her research interests include modeling three-phase flow patterns inside a biogas reactor to improve performance efficiency. Dr. Warinthorn played a key role in establishing the Starch Engineering and Process Optimization (SEPO) Program, which fosters university-public-private partnership under the practice school concept to enhance knowledge in the cassava starch production process. Through capacity building workshops, the team has disseminated research on starch production processes, helping increase productivity and reduce losses in the cassava starch industry. Over the past three years, thirty factories have participated in the Program’s activities. Additionally, Dr. Warinthorn has also taken on leadership positions in various EU-KMUTT collaborative projects focusing on environmental and renewable energy topics. In 2011, she served as a proposal evaluator for the FP7 Energy Evaluation Session on Efficient Energy Use in Manufacturing Industry. In 2020, she acted as a Project Leader under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund, working to improve productivity, people’s livelihood, resource and energy efficiency, and the competitiveness of the China and CLVT’s cassava chain, while maximizing environmental benefits from waste treatment.
