Khemmathin Lueangwattanapong
Media and communication teamDr. Khemmathin is the Head of General Science Department, Faculty of Science and Technology, Muban Chombueng Rajabhat University, Ratchaburi, Thailand. He holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Imperial College London (2016) and a DPhil in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford (2021). His research focuses on the utilization and management of agricultural waste, with an emphasis on biogas and biochemical production. In his doctoral thesis, Khemmathin investigated the potential of crassulacean acid metabolism (CAM) plants, such as Opuntia ficus-indica and Euphorbia tirucalli, which are abundant in semi-arid environments, particularly in Africa, for biogas and bioplastic production. He has also gained practical experience working on biogas production from rose waste in African countries with Tropical Power Ltd. Currently, he is exploring the production of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs), a type of bioplastic, from local agricultural residues.
