BIOTEC-NSTDA and ASEAN Cassava Centre at the 6th LMBF
On January 10, 2024, Dr. Kuakoon Piyachomkwan, Deputy Executive Director of BIOTEC, joined researchers Dr. Kanchana Saengchan and Mr. Sittichoke Wanlapatit from the Cassava and Starch Technology Research Team at the 6th Lancang Mekong Business Forum (LMBF) in Beijing, P.R. China.
Themed "Promoting Agribusiness and Investment in Processed Food Sector," the forum is part of a long-term project funded by the Lancang Mekong Cooperation Special Fund of P.R. China. Since 2018, in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, it has been organized. In 2024, MI collaborates with the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of P.R. China and the China-ASEAN Business Center in Guangxi, P.R. China, to co-organize the 6th LMBF, aiming to foster agribusiness and the processed food sector in Lancang Mekong (LM) countries.
Dr. Kuakoon contributed to the morning panel discussion on "Technological Innovation and Commercialization in Agri-Food Processing." Other panel discussion topics included Trade and investment opportunities for the agriculture and food processing sector, Promotion of Low Carbon and Green Agri-food Processing Industry Development in the LM region, and Planning and Construction of Modern Agricultural Industrial Parks and Policies Exchange.
