Empowering Cassava Farming: Innovations and Sustainability Initiatives in Laos
The Alliance Cassava Program in Laos collaborates on innovative solutions tailored to regions, farming systems, and markets, aiming to boost farm productivity and sustainability for cassava-growing smallholders and communities. Through the Future Stems facility, it distributes disease-free planting materials across Laos and neighboring countries (Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia), safeguarding smallholder farmers. Additionally, the cassava molecular laboratory conducts groundbreaking research on identifying infectious cassava pathogens, supporting improvement programs like Future Stems and sharing diagnostic technology with National Plant Protection Organizations in Southeast Asia.
