SCCB jointly hosted the "2023 CCARS Symposium on High-quality Development and Training Course for Quality and Safety measuring Technology"
The Symposium on High-quality Development of Chinese Cassava Agro-technology Research System commenced with a training course in Nantong, focusing on technology needs such as measuring cyanoglycosides, heavy metals, polysaccharides, starch, and secondary metabolites, along with data mining. The course included an equipment demonstration at Sanshu Biotech Co. Ltd. and a youth innovation forum discussing cassava variety creation, growth mechanisms, stress resistance, and starch application. Graduate students presented research on low-phosphorus response regulation and storage root development.
The symposium's opening ceremony on July 26th featured speeches by local officials and industry leaders. Subsequent sessions covered topics including quality evaluation of agricultural products, industrialization of cassava starch, and discussions on cassava starch improvement, heavy metal status, insect resistance, nutritional quality of moringa, coffee germplasm resources, and cassava cultivation techniques. Representatives also visited the Nantong Provincial Agricultural High-tech Industry Demonstration Zone.
Hosted by CCARS and organized with support from Zhejiang University, CAS Center for Excellence in Molecular Plant Sciences, and Jiangsu Sanhuang Biotechnology Co., Ltd., the event was attended by center members and graduate students.
